REVIEW Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China an oriental cracker?
ASSASSIN'S CREED returns for another outing and looks better than ever
What a cracking little game this is.
If you're a fan of platformers with a few puzzles thrown in you're going to love this.
There are three Chronicles games coming out.
All set in different places globally with unique art directions.
The first is set in China and it looks beautiful with strong reds, faded other colours and a real cool cartoony vibe.
The cut scenes are reminiscent of those in the early Infamous games. All comic book and voice overs.
It's a 2.5D platformer set in the Assassin's Creed universe
Basically that means you'll have a series of layered 2D platform like levels to snap between and traverse as a kick-ass woman Assassin hell-bent on revenge.
It's the usual cliched storyline sadly.
But what sets this game apart from others it's it's amazing visuals, vastly different from the normal third-person blockbuster Assassins games.
And it's gameplay is very addictive.
You slowly learn tons of moves way beyond the Sonic spins and Mario jumps of the normal platforming world.
There's a whole combat system to learn as well as detailed stealth mechanics and they keep throwing new obstacles in your way like noisy flooring that'll alert the baddies and even birds in cages that'll squawk if you run past them.
It gets complicated quickly
And that's what makes the game such a challenge as you press forward, leaping between boats and fortresses, desperately trying to avoid shaky floors while silently taking out baddies.
It's great fun, increasingly taxing and you can't help but come back for more.
This is well worth a try.
Refreshing for the ageing Assassins brand.
And I'm not really looking forward to see how they change up the next two titles. Assassin's Creed has been done over and over again does not seem like nothing new apart from the new scenes and characters,
the first three titles were good but now the new games of AC have got so repeative IMHO
