leaked by ex-DICE developer? BATTLEFIELD 5 is set to unveil it's official trailer later tonight, but one former DICE employee may have already given away the games biggest secret.
Last night EA released a quick nine second tease ahead of Battlefield 5's full reveal later today.
There's not too much to see bar the face of a soldier looking upward as a giant shadow looms over him.
As per usual, the game is made by developers DICE, but an ex-DICE employee may have just revealed the games big secret.
Namely, that the game is set in WW1.
You can see the tweet below, but Ben Cousins has stoked the fires by suggesting some "random reading" on Codename Eagle, a WW1 era shooter made by the team that would go on to merge with DICE and create Battlefield 1942
It's just speculation for now, but it would stand to reason that an ex-DICE employee might have the inside track in what his former friends and co-workers were creating.
And to this the fact that earlier this year famed gaming researcher Liam Robertson stumbled upon a potenial leak which once again suggested a WW1 setting.
His tweet below is from Swiss retailer World of Games shows and the description reads "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg".
Roughly translater this means "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1".
Rumours of a World War setting were first sparked earlier this year when a listing posted by a German retailer appeared to confirm that the franchise is heading back to its roots.
Fans have been crying out for one of the top FPS shooters to return to a past war setting and it appears EA and DICE have heard their calls.
For now though, we'll have to wait until the full reveal later tonight.
