PC right now or face a £100 bill MICROSOFT’S free Windows 10 upgrade offer is coming to an end.
If you haven’t made the jump over to Windows 10 now might be a good time.
Since Windows 10 hit PCs last year, Microsoft has offered customers running genuine copies of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 the chance to upgrade to the latest operating system for free.
But that deal is running out and the US tech firm has now revealed just how much the software upgrade is going to cost once its free promotion ends on July 29th.
Users who don’t get a move on will be face with a $119 (£99) bill if they fancy switching to Windows 10.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 Pro will set you back $199 or £130.
Microsoft's free upgrade offer has proved very popular with consumers.
The firm has just announced that more than 300 million active devices are now running Windows 10 around the world.
And with users about to be forced to pay for an upgraded that number could rise even further before the July deadline.
The news comes as renown Microsoft author and pundit Paul Thurrott said the popularity and new capabilities built into iOS and Android could spell the end for Microsoft and Windows 10.
Products such as Apple's iPad Pro and Google's Pixel C are bridging the gap between heavy work laptops and entertainment-focused tablets and they proving extremely popular.
But the strength of the iOS and Android brands amongst the general public could trigger a mass exodus from Microsoft.
Writing on his blog, 49-year-old Thurrott said: "What both Google and Apple have, however, are secret weapons that Microsoft lacks: Incredibly popular mobile platforms,
"And as these platforms mature, they are becoming increasingly viable PC replacements. And it won’t take much to put them over the top.
"Microsoft, of course, has tried, but failed, to match the mobile efforts of its competitors.
