It's a feature WhatsApp fans have long been waiting for and now a major rival has beaten the world's most popular messaging app to it.
Viber has just announced it's now allowing its army of fans to send animated GIFs in messages.
Yes, if you use Viber you can send those hilarious comedy cat animations to all your mates whilst watching WhatsApp users weep into their phones.
Although WhatsApp can convert GIFs into short videos it can't send them as instant animations.
Fans of the app have long been asking for GIF support and it won't go down well that a rival has now included this option.
This isn't the first time WhatsApp has been beaten to a new killer feature.
Telegram recently announced that it is allowing users to edit their conversations after they've been sent.
A message posted on their blog says: "Starting today, you can edit the text of your messages after sending them.
"This works across all Telegram chats, including groups and one-on-one conversations."
It's not all bad news for WhatsApp fans as it's thought a new video calling function could arrive on the app very soon.
WhatsApp hasn't commented on its plans for video calling but expect to see some changes over the coming months.
The Facebook-owned firm has also just launched a desktop app for Windows and Mac.
This allows users to chat via their computers without having to touch their smartphones.
