Here’s 5 things you need to know about Microsoft’s ‘laptop killer'
MICROSOFT'S new cheaper Surface 3 goes on sale today and offers both laptop and tablet in one.
After a decidedly shaky start, the Surface range from Microsoft is now a serious contender in the tablet market.
The US company launched the critically acclaimed Surface Pro 3 last year and now they’re adding the cheaper Surface 3 to the range.
Microsoft’s 'laptop killer' concept is continued on this new device with users getting a tablet that transforms into a computer via a detachable keyboard.
Whilst the Surface 3 is cheaper than last year's Pro 3 don’t think it's not up to the job of powering you through a day as this tablet is incredibly powerful.
With a Quad-core Intel Atom processor and 10.8-inch ClearType Full HD screen this is one serious piece of tech.
The Surface 3 will land on your lap running Windows 8 but users will instantly get upgraded to Windows 10 when it launches later this year.
If you’re considering splashing the cash on Microsoft’s new Surface 3 tablet here’s FIVE things you need to know.
KEYBOARD & PEN DON’T COME FOR FREE
It’s one of the few and expensive downsides of the Surface 3.
When you buy the device it doesn’t come with either the keyboard or Surface Pen.
These essential extras will add over £150 to the cost of the device and, for some, could be a deal breaker.
However there is some good news.
Highstreet retailers, including Currys, are selling Surface 3 bundles which include the keyboard.
Currys currently have a deal for the 128GB tablet (usually £499) with the keyboard included for £529.
If you buy the 64GB base model from Microsoft (£419) and add the keyboard (£109) it will cost you £528 so we'd spend the extra pound.
