LUCASFILM announced the 72-year-old star would return as the adventurous archaeologist.
The president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that there will be a fifth instalment in the Indiana Jones franchise.
"A new Indiana Jones movie will one day be made inside this company", she said, speaking to Vanity Fair.
The movie boss said that she wasn't sure when the new project would happen, saying: "We haven¹t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."
It's still not certain what role Ford will play, but there have been talks of Guardians Of The Galaxy's Chris Pratt being eyed up for the lead.
The hugely successful franchise, directed by Steven Spielberg, began in 1981 with Raiders Of The Lost Ark, with three more box office hits following after that earning a whopping £1.32 billion worldwide.
Ford has been re-cooperating since March after breaking several bones when his plane crash-landed on a golf course in California.
