John McClane is coming back to the big screen for a sixth time in a new installment of Die Hard.
It has been reported that a prequel to the first Die Hard film is in the works, 27 years after its release.
Unfortunately for fans of Bruce Willis, the actor won't be getting most of the screen time.
The project, tentatively titled Die Hard Year One, will follow New York City cop McClane in 1979 before the events of the first movie, meaning he will be played by a younger actor.
However, according to Deadline, the film will flash forward to the present day, meaning there's still room for Willis in the script.
Len Wiseman, who directed Live Free or Die Hard, the fourth film in the franchise, is slated to return for the prequel, alongside producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
Reaction to the origin story was mixed, with several Twitter users commenting that the original Die Hard was an origin story in itself.
