BATTLEFIELD 1 is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC later this year but before that we've got another trailer for EA's epic WW1 shooter to enjoy beforehand. EA has released a short teaser ahead of a full-length Battlefield 1 trailer which will premiere on June 12 at EA Play.
It's likely this will take place during EA's livestream where they'll also unveil more details about Titanfall 2, FIFA 17 and many more pre-existing EA games such as Star Wars Battlefront.
You can catch the teaser trailer below, but bare in mind that this is made using "in-game footage", and so won't represent in game footage as we had seen in the earlier Battlefield 1 trailer.
For anyone wanting a quick summery of what the spectacular looking game has in store, give this statement from EA a read:
"Only in Battlefield 1 will you bring a horse to a tank fight and squad-up with your allies in epic multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. Through ever-changing environments at the dawn of all-out war, no battle is ever the same."
"Battlefield 1 takes you across multiple and varied locations in a bid to fight your way through immersive battles. From tight urban fights in a besieged French city, to big open spaces in the Italian Alps and frantic combats in the deserts of Arabia, discover a world at war through an adventure-filled campaign.
"In a true multiplayer sandbox experience, take to the skies and engage in high-octane dogfights through treacherous landscapes, or have a battleship obliterating the coast from the sea, and engage in some of the biggest battles ever seen as empires clash for supremacy."
Rumours of a WW1 inspired shooter had been bubbling along ever since it was first leaked by a Swiss retail listing in April.
The listing appeared to confirm the franchise was heading back in time, rather than fast forwarding to the future like so many other games.
Then out of nowhere a image leaked ahead of the games full reveal showed the world what appeared to be a WW1 era Harlem Hellfighter, brandishing a Mauser C96 service pistol and a club which commenters suggested was a WW1 trench club.
Going even further back than last month, Battlefield's publisher EA had long been stating a new entry in the series was coming this year, with some comments originating as far back as two years ago.
It was chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen who said in 2014 that the company planned to have a new shooter every year for the foreseeable future, and 2016 would follow up on the success of 2015's Star Wars Battlefront with a new Battlefield title.
"What we've said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles," he replied. "This year it's Star Wars: Battlefront. Next year, it's another Battlefield title."
CFO Blake Jorgensen also confirmed that EA were looking to launch the next Battlefield title around the same time they did with earlier instalments.
Interestingly during EA's annual Investor Day briefing earlier in May, EA Studios boss Patrick Soderlund admitted that when the team at DICE initially pitched the idea for a World War 1 themed Battlefield game, he "absolutely rejected it".
Although initially sceptical around the idea of trench warfare, Soderlund went on to say that DICE eventually won him over.
"[World War 1] wasn't the most obvious choice," Soderlund said.
"If you look at what other partners in the industry are doing, they're going into sci-fi; we've had a lot of success in the modern military space. But we felt like there was a need for a change."
Now Soderlund believes that the World War 1 setting is "right for the franchise and right for EA." and given the reaction the game has recieved, we defy anyone to argue against him.
Battlefield 1 is releasing worldwide on October 21, 2016 for Xbox One, Origin on PC, and PlayStation 4.
if you pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition, you’ll be able to start playing on October 18, three days before the release date
