BETHESDA'S upcoming action-adventure stealth game Dishonored 2 is set to feature a significantly different hero from the series first outing.
The lead character Corvo in Dishonoured 2 will be an aged supernatural assassin 15 years down the line from the first game.
Developers behind the stealth sequel say we're going to play as a very different "grizzled" Corvo from the original.
He's battle hardened, having protected his Royal daughter Emily from baddies for years, and his time bending and possession skills of other animals are more experienced.
He will now have a voice for the first time, played by Stephen Russell, who also voiced Garrett in similar hit stealth title Thief.
Dishonoured's creative director Harvey Smith told Game Informer: "Before we kind of assumed certain things about Corvo, but that’s the strength and weakness of giving them a voice.
"Sometimes he says something and it might be different than what you assumed about him.
"He has a more assertive personality than before, so I feel like you have to know the character a bit better to write lines for him now.
"A lot of people had assumptions about Corvo. Was he sadistically enjoying killing people? Was he doing it for revenge? Was he just doing it to save Emily?
"We’re trying not to violate the broad assumptions players made about Corvo. We’re trying not to be too intrusive.”
Corvo is an ex-soldier who joined the Royal Protectors, who are essentially bodyguards to the Emperor.
He quickly came to be known as the most capable soldier/assassin in the world.
After saving Emily at the end of the last game from a rival assassin he's still watching out for her 15 years down the line in the PlayStation and Xbox sequel.
“He’s wondering how long he can keep protecting his daughter,” said Harvey.
“He knows that someday somebody’s going to come for her, because she’s the Empress, and she needs to be able to stand on her own.”
The game, from Arkane Studios, is due out on November 11.
