THE new reboot of Ghostbusters is breaking records – but for all the wrong reasons.
The new reboot of Ghostbusters is breaking records, but for all the wrong reasons.
The remake, which for the first time will feature an all female lead cast, is officially the most disliked film trailer in YouTube history.
Although it's been watched nearly 30 million times, over 614,000 dislike the trailer, setting a new record for the video sharing site.
Only 215,000 like the trailer.
The reboot stars Hollywood funny ladies Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
It's set 30 years after the original film but will include all the slime and ghost-busting antics we saw in the originals.
Director Paul Feig has been trolled by keyboard warriors who are unhappy about the reboot featuring women.
"The people that reach out to you most vociferously are the haters. That's the downside of the internet," he said at the SXSW Festival.
"Who knew there were so many ghosts to be busted in the world? All I know is my ladies are going to kick a** and I would not want to go into battle without them."
Various groups urging for people to boycott the film have emerged online, with some haters choosing to personally attack the female stars on Twitter.
Leslie Jones was so horrified by some of the hate she was sent that she threatened to quit Twitter.
Paul hit back at the trolls.
"And haters, attack me all you want but when you attack and insult my cast, you've crossed the line. Grow up and leave my cast alone."
Ghostbusters will hit cinemas in July.
