ELLEN DeGeneres confirmed that we will be seeing a transgender stingray in the upcoming film. The long awaited sequel to Finding Nemo is already rumoured to be set for a lesbian couple after a glimpse in the trailer. But, it seems like Disney Pixar wants to be even more inclusive of the LGBT community. In an interview with USA Today, Ellen DeGeneres said the film will be darker and more complex than 2003's Finding Nemo. The actress and comedian, who voices Dory, also revealed more info on the transgender character: "There's a stingray that's becoming sting-Rhonda, so there's a trans sting in the movie." Also touching upon the rumours of a same-sex couple in the movie, Ellen said: "I don't mind the question and I don't know if its true or not, or if she just has a bad short haircut. Who knows if she is a lesbian?" The films director, Andrew Stanton, also gave a non-direct answer in regards to the speculation: "They can be whatever you want them to be. There's no right or wrong answer." The chatter comes amid campaigns for Disney to include LGBT characters in their films. We saw this in the Twitter hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend which called on Disney to include a lesbian relationship in the upcoming sequel to Frozen. The campaigns have also spread to other films under the Disney umbrella, with the hashtag #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend which called for a gay partner for Captain America. Finding Dory hits cinemas on June 17. Attachments:
